UNC Women's vs. University of Wyoming

On a wet rainy and windy early afternoon UNC Women's went head to head againts UW Women's.  UW came out strong but UNC was there to counter any attack.  With constant pressure and a lack of offense by UNC, UW went up  25-0 at half.  Playing flat and with no life, UNC came back the second half looking like the new rugby team they have become.  Captain and kicker Rachael Rhodes put up 3 penalty kicks after the forwards keep UW's forwards on thier heels.  That wasn't enough to beat UW with a final score of 13-30.  UNC Women's again would like to give a very big "thank you" to the fans who came out again during poor weather to support the team!  Next game UNC Women's will play Colorado College Saturday October 30th @ 5:30pm.

UNC Women's vs. Colorado University B Side

With snow flurries and rain the UNC Women's played a match against CU's B side October 6th, 2012 at 11am on Butler Hancock Inter-mural Rugby Field.  Building after a CC loss, UNC Women's were dominate in the scrums.  The forwards put up most the points in the first half.  The second half we saw the backs putting up points.  With a great show of class and team unity the UNC women's won the game 55-15.  Captain Rachael Rhodes said after the game "I feel we did really well.  We didn't give up and the team worked really well together on the field.  There are things we need to work on." Great job UNC Women's!  The Women will be facing the University of Wyoming next Saturday October 13th @ 1pm on the Butler Hancock Inter-mural Rugby Field.  The Women's side would like to say a very generous "Thank you" to all it's fans.  Both family and friends came out on a very cold day and cheered the team on!  Coach Nolan Manzano and the team share a common goal for the team this season: Fluidity/Continuity.

UNC Men's @ CU 7's

The UNC Men's brought down an A & B side down to Boulder, CO Saturday Oct.6, 2012.  Both sides cruised to the semi's where the b side lost to CU.  The A side made it all the way to the Championship game.  Unfortunetly in a tough fought battle UNC Men's A side 7's team lost to CU.  Captain David Zimmerman said "Unlike the other schools we focused on 15's instead of 7's.  I'm very proud of  the way we battled on both teams.  We showed great promise and I believe we will be a force to reckon with on October 20th."  Zimmerman referring to the Mountain West 7's Qualifier @ Glendale Stadium on October 20th this month.

UNC Women's Compete against Colorado College

The UNC women's team traveled down the Colorado Springs for a match against Colorado College's Women's Team.  With a brand new team and culture the UNC women's team played a tough CC side losing the match.  A lose did not dictate the UNC women's teams emotion after the game.  The team was in high spirits due to the unity and bonding that was built through out the game.

UNC Men's @ BYU 7's

The UNC men's team paticipated in the BYU 7's tournament Sept 29th.  The Men started off with Dixie State, the game was filled with big tackles and lots of great play, unfortunately UNC was not able to secure a win.  The next match was against Weber State which UNC men's were able to create a dominating performance and that first "W".  With a needed win against U of U the UNC Men's 7's team could not pull off the win, and were eliminated from further play.  UNC men's went 1-2 at the BYU 7's tournament.

UNc Women's attend jackalope

The UNC Women's Rugby team went up to Jackalope (located in Larimer, WY) this past weekend.  President of the women's team Rachel Rhodes had this to say "We worked hard and played as a team, we gave everything we had in each match and cannot wait to get into playing 15's."  UNC Women's went 0-3 but had some great scoring and defensive stands in their first 7's games.  The team went up with 9 players which all gained some great experience.  Next up @ Colorado College for their season and conference opener 9/22/12.

UNC Men's Alumni Game outcome

The current UNC men's team beat the Alumni team is a fun and energetic game.  Both teams started out slower, but in the end the current team turned it on and beat the Alumni.  The UNC rugby program would like to thank all the Men's Alumni for coming out to support the current men's team.
